Biometric identity and digital wallet project Worldcoin allows Minecraft server integration through one of its applications. A plugin called Luckperms, a Minecraft server mod, allows server administrators to address the bot problem by only allowing users with a World ID to access the server.
Minecraft Will Integrate Worldcoin for Authentication Purposes
Worldcoin, an iris scanning ID and digital wallet program, can now be integrated into Microsoft’s award-winning game Minecraft through one of its applications. The inclusion of Worldcoin in the game focused on solving the “glitch issue” that occurs when bot users join a server and disrupt the gaming experience.
Through Luckperms, an implementation of Worldcoin, server administrators can leverage World ID to create a set of allowed actions that only authenticated users can perform. As a result, unauthenticated users will not be able to access these features until they log in to their World Authentication ID.
According to the description of the Luckperms app, this feature is available by installing a plugin on your Minecraft server and requires users to authenticate via a command line prompt.
Mojang Studios, the company owned by Microsoft that developed Minecraft, has previously taken a strong stance on blockchain and non-fungible token (NFT) technologies and stated that these technologies are used “in our Minecraft clients and servers and applications.” may not be integrated. Used to create NFTs associated with in-game content, including worlds, skins, personal items, and other mods. ”
However, in this case, Worldcoin will use blockchain technology to issue and distribute WLD reward tokens, while the Luckperms integration will focus solely on the authentication function of the Worldcoin project.
Worldcoin is also expanding these authentication services to other platforms such as Discord, Reddit, Shopify and Telegram. The new application, which will be integrated with Latin American e-commerce giant Mercado Libre, is listed as “coming soon” on WorldCoin’s website.
